THE ORDER OF THE ARROW IS A THING OF THE SPIRIT…
THE THINGS OF THE SPIRIT ARE WHAT COUNT:

BROTHERHOOD -
IN A DAY WHEN THERE IS TOO MUCH HATRED AT HOME AND ABROAD

CHEERFULNESS -
IN A DAY WHEN PESSIMISTS HAVE THE FLOOR AND CYNICS ARE POPULAR

SERVICE -
IN A DAY WHEN MILLIONS ARE INTERESTED IN GETTING OR GRASPING, RATHER THAN GIVING.

- DR. E. URNER GOODMAN, CO-FOUNDER

Welcome to the website of Ho-Nan-Ne-Ho-Ont Lodge 165 of the Order of the Arrow, BSA. Our lodge is chartered to Allegheny Highlands Council 382, located in southwestern New York and northwestern Pennsylvania.

On this webpage, much information can be found about the lodge itself and the services we offer to the scouting community, both locally and on a broader scale. For non-Arrowmen, a glossary of common Order of the Arrow terms is located in the What is the OA? portion of the site. Also, information for Arrowmen, such as upcoming lodge events and the names and contact information for each of our lodge officers. Finally, links to other OA and Scouting websites are included in the Links portion of the site. Please be patient with some of the pages on our site, as the graphics on them may be slow to load on some dial-up connections.

Please feel free to contact us using information located in the Contact Us portion of this website if you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the content of the site or our lodge.

We sincerely thank you for visiting our site and hope you enjoy it.

  • National Leadership Seminar is coming to AHC

  • The National Leadership Seminar is a weekend conference on the skills and attributes of leadership. It is intended primarily to enhance the leadership skills of the Order of the Arrow’s key youth and adult members as they seek to improve their services to the Boy Scouts of America and the greater community. The weekend format is designed to complement the longer, more detailed Wood Badge and Junior Leadership Training Programs. Near the end of the seminar, participants make a contract with themselves to apply the skills studied in the seminar on projects in their lodge, council, and community.

    Who Should Attend?

It is recommended that youth participants be at least 15 years of age or a lodge officer. Completion of the Lodge Leadership Development Course is desirable. The seminar is an intensive experience in learning about the nature of leadership and practicing some of the skills that a leader uses. While it is designed to be fun, the course challenges participants mentally as well. Participants should be developmentally, physically, and mentally prepared to actively engage in an exhausting and invigorating weekend. Tentative cost for the weekend is $65, and will be held May 1st, 2nd, & 3rd, 2009 at Scouthaven right here in our council.

  • Spring Ordeal Camp Merz- May 8t, 9th and 10th

  • Don’t miss out it’s the only chance for new nominees to complete their Ordeal in time to take part in this summer’s OA Events.

For those Ordeal members, after 10 months of service as an Ordeal member and after fulfilling certain requirements, you may take part in the Brotherhood ceremony, which places further emphasis on the ideals of Scouting and the Order. Completion of this ceremony signifies full membership in the Order.

The Spring Ordeal will be held this year at Camp Merz. Check-in starts at 6:30pm Friday May 8th.  Please join us in cheerful service as we welcome our newest inductees. Members, you can spend the weekend with us or come in on Saturday night. For those who made their Ordeal last year, please take this opportunity to seal your membership in the Order by making your Brotherhood commitments during this weekend.
